Studio After Hours was born from a desire to move beyond the screen and create opportunities for genuine connection through conversation, making and shared experiences.

Hosted by our founder Riya Panchal and artist Nicole Chui, in their shared studio space. The inaugural gathering brought together designers, makers, collaborators and creative practitioners for an evening of creative exchange and community.

An In-Real-Life Newsletter

Conceived as our “in-real-life newsletter”, the event was created to foster meaningful connections through conversation and shared experiences. Rather than meeting through emails or video calls, we wanted to create a space where people could gather, exchange ideas and connect more personally.

Guests were also invited to contribute to a series of miniature MANTIS x Nicole Chui table lamp miniature models, creating individual stitched interpretations that celebrated craft, participation and collective making.

Bringing People Together

At the heart of the evening was a tablescape featuring an illustrated football pitch, representing a space designed to bring different teams together. Inspired by the collaborative nature of our work, the installation reflected the spirit of exchange and community that shaped the evening.

Special thanks to G . F Smith for their continued support and to our neighbours at SlowBurn London for helping make the evening possible.

“Studio After Hours is our in-real-life newsletter — an evolving series of gatherings bringing together people, ideas and creative practices through conversation, making and community.”
