MORA
MORA is a collaborative lighting collection by MESEME Studio and Atelier Korbo, bringing together solid hardwood forms, specialist paper structures, and contemporary lighting design.
Developed through an ongoing dialogue between furniture designer-maker Dex Vallon of Atelier Korbo and lighting designer-maker Riya Panchal of MESEME Studio, the collection explores the relationship between monolithic architectural presence and soft, undulating forms. Contrasting weight with lightness, permanence with delicacy, each piece combines the warmth and solidity of hardwood with sculpted paper structures shaped through tension, fold, and illumination.
Available in a selection of hardwood species and finishes, MORA allows each piece to develop its own material character while preserving the integrity of the original design.

Two Practices
Each MORA piece is handcrafted and assembled in small batches by Atelier Korbo and MESEME Studio. Combining traditional woodworking, paper craftsmanship, and contemporary lighting techniques, every piece is individually made to order and finished by hand.
Due to the natural characteristics of hardwood and the handcrafted nature of the paper elements, subtle variations in grain, texture, and form are to be expected, making each piece unique. These variations are celebrated as part of the making process and material character of the collection.

The MORA Table Light combines a monolithic hardwood form with sculpted illuminated paper elements, exploring the balance between architectural presence and soft, organic form.
Crafted using traditional joinery and carefully selected timber, the architectural body is shaped through a deliberate, material-led process that emphasises proportion, clean lines, and the natural character of the wood. Positioned on both sides, the paper structures are formed through tension and fold, creating a rhythmic, wave-like profile that transforms under illumination to reveal texture, depth, and a softly diffused glow.
Together, these materials and making processes create a sculptural lighting fixture that feels grounded in material and animated by light.
Collaboratively created by lighting designer-maker Riya Panchal of MESEME Studio and designer-maker Dex Vallon of Atelier Korbo.

The MORA Floor Lamp combines a monolithic, handcrafted hardwood base with a softly illuminated paper structure, exploring the balance between solidity and lightness, permanence and movement.
Crafted using traditional joinery and carefully selected timber, the architectural base is shaped through a deliberate, material-led process that emphasises proportion, clean lines, and the natural character of the wood. Formed through tension and fold, the paper structure transforms under illumination, introducing warmth, softness, and atmosphere. Together, these contrasting materials and making processes create a sculptural lighting object that feels grounded in material and softened by light.

Design Note
MORA emerged through a collaborative exploration between furniture designer-maker Dex Vallon of Atelier Korbo and lighting designer-maker Riya Panchal of MESEME Studio. Bringing together their respective material languages, the collection explores the balance between architectural solidity and organic softness through the combination of hardwood, specialist paper, and light.
The pieces were developed through an iterative process of making, testing, and refining, allowing the inherent qualities of each material to inform the final form. While the hardwood elements provide structure, permanence, and presence, the paper introduces lightness, movement, and atmosphere through forms shaped by tension, fold, and illumination.
Rather than viewing lighting as an applied element, MORA considers light, material, and form as inseparable parts of a single composition, resulting in pieces that sit between functional lighting and sculptural object.
